100 Quick Tennis Tips pt 1

tennis2Here are 100 quick and easy tennis tips to get your game going. We're going to spread this list out over a couple of posts to keep it interesting.

Tip #1 - Before you pick up the game of tennis, you should absolutely make sure to consult a physician to ensure that you are healthy enough for the game.

Tip #2 - If you want to get serious about the game of tennis, then you should aim to take at least a couple of lessons every month to improve your game.

Tip #3 - When it comes to choosing an instructor, take the time to find someone that understands the reasons why you have chosen to play tennis.

Tip #4 - Choose a tennis racquet that is about 9.7 ounces in weight that has a large head of around 105 square inches, as this is a solid beginner's racquet.

Tip #5 - When you are buying a good pair of tennis shoes, you are going to want to make sure that you are purchasing from someone that knows what they are talking about. If they are not familiar with the terms "supination" and "pronation", choose a different salesman.

Tip #6 - You should always make sure that you complete a warm up before you begin to play tennis. If it is very warm, then you should at least take the time to loosen up and make sure that you start out easy.

Tip #7 - Choose to play with a pressurized ball rather than a pressureless one, as these ones are generally easier on the arms in the long run.

Tip #8 - When it comes to having your racquet restrung for better performance, you should absolutely consider the following formula: Take the number of times that you play tennis every week and have your racquet restrung that many times. In other words, if you play tennis three times a week, every week, then your racquet should be restrung three times per year, every year.

Tip #9 - During the first five minutes of your court time, you should play mini tennis. This is going to help you to get into your tennis mode and will also help you practice your high to low swing while you are still warming up.

Tip #10 - When aiming to hit the ball, you should try to hit the ball as it is coming down just after the first bounce on your side of the court.

Tip #11 - As soon as you can see that the ball is coming, you should take your position near to the spot where the ball is likely going to be bouncing for the second time. Do not let it bounce twice, rather, hit it before it is able to hit the court again.
