Here are 100 quick and easy tennis tips to get your game going. We're going to spread this list out over a couple of posts to keep it interesting.
Tip #12 - When the ball is coming so fast that you are not going to get to it in time for the second bounce, then you are going to want to take the ball during the rise.
Tip #13 - You should typically try to be hitting the ball while it is at about your hip's height.
Tip #14 - Every time that your opponent is about to strike the ball, you should already be working to get into your ready position.
Tip #15 - When you are in the ready position and waiting for the ball to be returned to you, you are going to want to hold your racquet just slightly in front of your body and the racquet face should be facing upward.
Tip #16 - While you are standing in the ready position, you are going to want to take a stance that has your feet just a bit wider apart than your shoulder width.
Tip #17 - When you are standing in the ready position, then you should have your knees bent just slightly, and the weight should be put on your balls of feet.
Tip #18 - Around the point of contact for your opponent you should take a slight hop, which is also known as a split step. When you get down from the split step, you are going to have to know where you should go next.
Tip #19 - As soon as the ball is seen coming toward you, you are going to want to turn your shoulder in the direction of the net.
Tip #20 - You are going to want to let go of the racket while you are turning your shoulder toward the net in order to start a backswing.
Tip #21 - When you see that the ball is coming, and you are aware of the direction that it is moving in, then you should turn your shoulder in that direction.
Tip #22 - If your opponent is hitting a drop shot, then rather than turning your shoulder you are going to want to run in the direction of the ball.
Tip #23 - When the ball is going toward your backhand, you are going to want to change up your grip while in the process of turning. This is going to be especially important when it comes to hitting with a single handed backhand.
Tip #24 - Avoid using the wrong type of grip when you are hitting using a one-handed backhand swing. If you use a forehand grip for a backhanded swing, you could end up injuring yourself unnecessarily.
