Choosing the Best Tennis Shoes
December 7th, 2009 | Clothing and Shoes, Tennis, Tips and Tricks
Tennis shoes, which also referred to gym shoes or athletic shoes, are designed primarily to handle sporting activities and other strenuous activities. Tennis shoes are also referred to in other ways depending on where in the world you are. In the U.K., tennis shoes are known as trainers. In Canada, tennis shoes are runner shoes, and in Australia they are sandshoes. These shoes and shoes like them are extensively used in strenuous sports like running, tennis, jumping and basketball. Tennis shoes are designed to be composed of flexible material and sturdy rubber soles to give the ultimate level of comfort.
There are numerous different types of tennis shoes out there. There are branded tennis shoes which are costly and come in different types and shapes for different users. You can also opt for custom made tennis shoes, should you have trouble finding the right size or shape of the tennis shoe that you want to wear. Shoe manufacturers are constantly working to make suitable changes to deal with changes in needs and the choices made by athletes who use them. Still, selecting the right pair of tennis shoes can absolutely be a tricky and time consuming affair. With the right guidance, however, it will be a lot easier for you to choose the perfect tennis shoes.
Tip 1 -
Do not simply go in for the brand names or the hot looks. Looks really do not matter when it comes to tennis shoes, as long as the shoes are serving their purpose. Buying into a brand name is worthwhile at times, but this should absolutely not be the only criteria that you use when choosing a tennis shoe, because functionality is absolutely vital.
Tip 2 -
Choose tennis shoes based on the type of foot that you have. Your shoe should fit comfortably over your foot without any stretching or tightness.
Tip 3 -
Many people completely overlook the robustness of the shoe's heel box. The heel box is the part of your shoe that covers your heel and keeps your foot in control while you are playing. Ideally your heel box should be leather with plastic or rubber serving as a support system. If you want to see how resistant a heel box is, you should squeeze or bend it.
Tip 4 -
Talk to your coach or your team physician for advice on which tennis shoes to buy if you are a serious athlete with a need for a good, powerful and stable shoe.
Tip 5 -
Another important aspect to look at when you are considering different tennis shoe options is the flexibility of the shoe. The ideal tennis shoes should easily bend while still providing comfort and sturdiness. Tennis shoes should have an ample amount of cushioning as well as shock absorption, which will help when playing tennis on harder courts.
Tip 6 -
The upper part of the shoe is going to cover the fore and mid foot, and this is going to protect you from many types of injuries. Make sure that your tennis shoes fit well in the upper region of the shoe, as tightness or looseness may not protect you from injury.
