Federer and Nadal Coming Closer to a Rematch

matchRoger Federer and Rafael Nadal are both now only two wins away from the first rematch that the two will have had since the Wimbledon match that was held about half a year ago. The two are now entering into the Qatar Open quarter-finals. Nadal only needed an hour in order to defeat Karol Beck 6-1, 6-2. Nadal currently holds Wimbledon, French Open and Olympic honors. Federer, who holds a grand total of 13 Grand Slam titles, needed only 79 minutes in order to achieve a 6-3, 6-3 victory against his opponent, Andreas Seppi.

Between the two opponents, Nadal's efforts seems as though more impressive. All of the titles and awards that Nadal has earned in his time have not caused him to become over confident, but rather his game has become significantly calmer, and this has given him the edge that he needs in order to think clearly and perform better. His loss to opponent Andy Murray in an exhibition match was reported to actually have helped him and improved his game. This is because the loss allowed him to regain his groove and gave him what he needed in order to compete at his full level of potential.

Federer's victory may have occurred sooner than it did if only he had not of allowed Seppi to break back in the first set. Seppi was also at the break back point in the second set, but Seppi was able to save a sum total of three match points before Federer was able to take the win in the the match. Federer reports to have hit five times as many tennis balls as normal, at least in comparison to his last game, which he claims is good for him and his game. One tends to only play as well as their opponent in a game like tennis.

Nadal's next match will be against Gael Monfils, a Frenchman who's speed enabled him to reach the top ten. Federer will face Phillip Kohlschreiber, a German player at the top of his game. Should these two survive, then Federer will face off against Murray, a player which will give him the toughest time.

Murray had dominated Philipp Petzschner with a 6-2, 6-4 win, enabling him to play matches each time a little more focused, and is able to get his opponent a little off balance. Federer is fully aware that he will have a more difficult time reaching the match with Nadal, than Nadal will have in his matches. Murray has had history with Federer and Nadal, having defeated both in Abu Dahbi.

Nadal will be facing Gael Monfils, the French wildcard and fifth seed. Monfils was runner up to Federer in 2006, and in his previous match defeated Nicolas Devilder 7-5, 7-6 & 7-4. IF he gets past this, he'll quickly win the next match, and then will be able to get his rematch, if Federer is able to defeat Murray.
