Now you should draw your racquet back and away from the net and make sure that you are keeping your wrist in this laid back position, and then you should wing your racquet forward several times at the network, trying to make a solid amount of contact between the racquet face and the net.
You should be trying to whack the net using the racquet face in a similar way as if you were beating a rug. During the actual play, your wrist should be looking and feeling the same way that it did during this exercise. In play, however, the ball is oncoming and is not going to stop your racquet in the same way that the net does, meaning that you are more than capable of following through. The force behind your swing and your body action and arm swing toward the net are all going to make your racquet move in a progressive way ahead of your wrist after the ball has contacted. At the critical moment, which is when the ball and the racquet are meeting, your wrist should absolutely be in a firm and a laid back position.
3 - Palm on Top with the Backhand Grip
In order to hit with power with a backhand, you are going to need to be able to use a grip capable of placing your palm almost near the top of the handle. In order for you to achieve this grip you need to hold the racquet by the throat with your left hand and then put it down in the edge down position in front of you. Next, you should grasp the handle using your hitting hand so that the V that is formed between your first finger and your thumb is on the handle's top left narrow plane. The fleshy ends of your last three fingers should be on the handle's bottom left plane. The first knuckle should be nearly atop the handle. The first finger should be spread just slightly away from your middle finger. Finally, your thumb should be wrapped around the racquets handle and it should be resting against the side of your middle finger. If you prefer, on the other hand, the thumb can be slanted in a diagonal manner across the handle's backside.
4 - With Your Backhand, Swing from Wall to Wall
We talked about the wall to wall concept once before. You can use the wall to wall concept again, this time to learn a good swing from the backhand. You should be standing with your back to a wall, one foot away from the wall.
