This is part three in our weekly tennis tips series. Here are some more invaluable tips that will help you improve all aspects of your tennis game.

You should swing your racket back until the point where the tip is barely touching the wall, and you should make sure that your wrist is being kept firm so that the racquet is not going to bang against it. Step forward as if stepping toward a ball that is imaginary, and then you should shift your weight toward your front foot, swinging your racquet forward in the direction of this imaginary ball. You should be swinging your racquet forward and slightly in the right direction, controlling it in the process so that your hand is going to touch the wall rather than the tip of your racquet. You are going to have to keep your grip as firm as you can and your wrist firm as well so that neither your hand nor your racquet is going to bang against the wall. Your hand should be barely touching the wall when the swing is complete.

Wall to wall swinging practice is going to teach you how to control your swing in order to make sure that you are not going to over swing or flip your wrist at any point during your backswing stroke.

5 - Backhand by Flinging a Frisbee

The backhand swing is not unlike the motion that you would use if you were throwing a Frisbee. You should be standing sideways as if you were a left-handed baseball batter, and you should turn your upper body so that your right shoulder's back side is facing the target. Now swing your hand back so that it is quite close to your leftmost hip, and then step toward the target using your front foot. These are all going to be components of a backhand swing and a backhand Frisbee toss. The motions are not identical but they are quite similar.

The important differences are these: First and foremost, in a Frisbee fling you are using a lot of wrist flipping action and you are snapping your elbow. When you are hitting backhand, you should be keeping your wrist as firm as possible and you should not be snapping your elbow at all during the swing. If you want to think about flinging at all, then you should think about flinging from your shoulder rather than from your wrist. If you want to hit a backhand the right way, you should pretend that you are trying to fling your Frisbee over the furthest fence, but fling it from your shoulder and make sure to maintain a strong and firm wrist in the process. This is the best way to get a feel for this motion without flinging from the wrong place and ending up with a poor backhand technique.
