More Tips for Your Tennis Serve

tennistipsandtricks

Here are some helpful tennis tips that will give you some perspective on improving your serve. Remember that different tennis tips are going to help different players in unique ways. The true key is going to lie in your ability to try out different tips and techniques until you find the ones that are going to drive the results that you are looking for.

Make sure that your serves are bending or hooking.

Rarely, if ever at all should you ever hit a serve that is perfectly flat. More often, you should be hitting a serve that has enough spin that the ball is going to be made to hook or bend after it happens to cross the net. In order to hit using spin, you should not be hitting the ball head on using the face of the racket, but instead you should be hitting it with a little bit of a glancing blow. Make sure that you swing in such a way that your racket face is going to move slightly up and then across the line of flight that you're intending for the ball, pretending that there is a face on your ball and that you are trying to hit the ball right on the nose but in the direction of the left eye.

With a bit of practice, you can learn to vary what degree you swing at up and across the ball, and then you will be able to vary the degree of spin that you place on the ball as a result. You will be able to have control of the ball's ability to hook and bend upon crossing the net.

Hit the ball from 7 to 2 if you want to create a twist.

One of the most difficult serves to have to return is a high bouncing ball with a twist to the backhand. The ball will kick up and then to the left of the receiver upon bouncing, and this will force him to play a high backhand that is relatively difficult. In order to serve a twist, you want to toss the ball just a bit to the left of where you would normally toss it to achieve a basic slice serve. During the part of the forward swing, you should bend your back to the left, swinging your hitting arm with your elbow bent so that you are swinging your racket face up and then across the ball from the left side to the right.

You should generally be pretending that there is a clock face on your ball, and you should be swinging from the 7 place to the 2 place on the clock face. You are actually going to be hitting the ball at the point where the hands would connect, but the racket is going to be moving in such a way across the ball that it will be struck with a glancing blow.
