More Tips to Improve your Serve

tennistipsandtricks

There are a variety of different tips that you can employ in your game to improve your game of tennis. Right now we are talking about the steps that can be taken to improve your serve, and by proxy, all of your game playing capabilities. Serving is a truly vital part of all games of tennis, and so being capable at serving is going to be an outstanding way for you to ensure success when you play a casual or professional match.

3 - Push the ball up as if through a tube.

If you want to attain a consistent tossing action while you are serving, what you can do is pretend that you are pushing the ball upward as though it were going to pass through a vertical tube that is suspended just above you in the air. To toss it through the tube, you would not flip it or fling it like a hot potato, but rather you would swing the tossing hand up in a careful motion and bring the hand and the ball as close to the tube opening as possible, simply pushing the ball into the opening as you release it through your fingers. In other words, you should not be throwing, flipping or flinging the ball, but rather you should be pushing it carefully upward as if pushing it through a tube, and you will make significantly more accurate tosses as a result, for a much more consistent serve. This is a great way to make sure that you are consistently tossing the ball so that you do not constantly have to change your serve to meet wherever the ball ends up flying, because you will always know where the ball is going to end up.

4 - Make a toss in line with a fence post.

Occasionally during your play you are going to have a toss that goes awry, and then you will have difficulty getting your toss to go consistently as planned. An erratic toss is going to result in a serve that is erratic and a ball that is inconsistent. When your serve begins to become shaky, and you suspect that it is your toss that is at fault, there is one corrective measure that is well worth trying: As you begin to take your serving position, you should look at the far fence, choosing a fence post that is in line with where you would like for your toss to be. As you make the toss, you should be conscious of that post, bringing your tossing up in the same line as the post. Using the post as a guide is an outstanding way for you to correct your faulty toss immediately before it becomes a serious problem or a worsening one. This is a great way to focus more closely on your toss, allowing you to greatly improve tossing problems whenever your serve happens to be going awry.
