The PTT Thailand Open is going to be a tight affair comprised of a truly fantastic group of rising stars as well as some fantastic established stars as well. So far a number of stars have already confirmed that they will be participating in this event which has a purse of USD $608,500.
The top ten tennis stars Rafael Nadal, Gilles Simon and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga are all going to be leading the field. They are going to be joined by a wide variety of other top competing favorites including Jarkko Nieminen from Finland as well as Marat Safin, a grand slam champion and Benjamin Becker from Germany, and all three of these individuals have been Bangkok.
There are a number of other players that are going to be hard to beat when it comes to the indoor courts located at the Impact Arena, including No. 23 Sam Querrey who is going to be returning for a second visit, as well as John Isner who is going to be coming to compete for the first time.
Adding another additional layer of strength to the field of players set to participate in the PTT Thailand Open you have:
- World no. 31 player Victor Troicki who comes from Serbia,
- World no. 35 player, Dudi Sela who comes from Israel,
- World no. 39 player, Phillipp Petzschner, who comes from Germany,
- World no. 40 player, Andreas Beck, who also comes from Germany,
- World no. 53 player, Mischa Zverev, who is also from Geremany
The chairman for the PTT Thailand Open's Executive Committee, who is Mr. Suwat Liptapanlop has added that the top stars here are not going to find the competition to be easy by any means. There are so many different top ranked players here that every single match is going to be really dangerous.
There are two additional Frenchmen that are going to be joining Simon and Tsonga in trying to keep that King's Cup trophy in the hands of the French, and they are Julien Benneteau and Fabrice Santoro who is also known as The Magician. He is going to be making his final appearance at this tournament after having recently announced that he is going to be retiring at the very end of the year.
Rounding out the uniquely international flavor of this competition we are going to be seeing Jurgen Melzer from Austria, Marcos Daniel from Brazil, Guillermo Garcia-Lopez from Spain, Leonardo Mayer from Argentina, and Danai Udomchoke from Thailand. The final eight players for this field have not yet been finalized.
The PTT Thailand Open is slated to begin on September 26 and to continue until October 4. It will be held at the Impact Arena. Tickets are being sold online or by phoning 02 262 3456.
