Tennis Racquet String Considerations
June 9th, 2010 | Racket, Tennis, racquet strings
Just as important as your racquet itself is the tennis racquet strings that you use. Unfortunately, it is all too common for people to spend too little time researching what types of tennis racquet strings they should be using. Many players who are just getting into the game of tennis will spend hour after hour researching different types of tennis racquets but they will put little or no consideration into the tennis racquet strings that they choose until long after they have purchased and strung their racquet and begun to play. Once they find the best possible tennis racquet, many players will simply choose the cheapest possible tennis racquet strings or simply use their old strings from their old racquet without any consideration to quality of play or results.
This can be an extremely large mistake.
If you tried out a demo tennis racquet and you were pleased with the results, you were probably trying out the best possible tennis racquet strings for that particular racquet, and that is why you were so satisfied with what you tested out. For example, if you were playing with a very stiff tennis racquet, then the chances are that you were playing with softer strings in it, or you may even have had natural gut strung in, which is what the top players often use because it is a top playing string. The strings are often regarded as the heart of the tennis racquet, and this is extremely true. Your tennis racquet strings are what give your racquet its playability or its feel. If you do not put the right tennis racquet strings in your racquet, then you are going to be dissatisfied with your play, and you will more than likely wonder why you purchased the racquet in the first place without realizing that it is the strings that are causing the problems.
Playability is a subjective thing, and it depends largely upon each individual tennis player. There are a number of different factors that lend to playability when it comes to tennis racquet strings, and these factors need to be considered whenever you are comparing different tennis racquet strings and trying to decide which are best suited for you. The next time you decide to replace your tennis racquet strings, here are some things that you are going to need to be willing to keep in mind.
- * Gauge: How thick are your tennis racquet strings?
- * Tension: How tight do you string your tennis racquet strings?
- * Materials: What types of tennis racquet string materials best suit your playing style?
- * String Construction: How does the construction of your tennis racquet strings impact your playability?
There are a lot of questions to consider, and many more answers that you need to address when it comes to choosing the right tennis racquet strings for your playing needs. Keep this in mind when buying a new tennis racquet or addressing the need for new strings, because having the right tennis racquet strings is absolutely vital when you want to play well.
