Roger Federer, World no.1 (-308) against Juan Martin Del Potro, seed 6 (+278)
Roger managed to take care of our red hot favorite, Djokovic in only three sets, but are things going to get even more challenging against him when he goes up against Juan Martin Del Potro from Argentina? He's been in top form lately and obviously has a lot of energy that he is bringing into the game, but is it enough to give him a win against Juan Martin Del Potro, who is also serious about bringing his A game to the courts this week?
It is the fourth meeting between the two of them for this year so far, and Federer is obviously going to be attempting to extend his tennis mastery over the Argentine to 7 and 0, though he does know that it is getting increasingly more and more difficult for him to go up against Juan Martin Del Potro and win. This mock rivalry between Roger Federer and Juan Martin Del Potro has been really interesting to watch on television, and it is always a pleasure to see these two gentlemen squaring off on the courts, especially when you consider how badly each of them wants this upcoming win.
Recently, Roger Federer talked to reporters about his upcoming match with Juan Martin Del Potro. He was quoted as saying that he is currently feeling pretty relaxed, after having recently taken a semi final tournament win. He said that we will have to see how things go when the sun comes back up, but he seems excited for things to keep going and he is really hoping that this is going to be his chance to take his first Grand Slam title win as a brand new father.
At the French Open this year, he needed to get five sets in the semis this year after he destroyed him in the Aussie Open quarters by 6 - 3, 6 - 0, 6 - 0. Juan Martin Del Potro has come quite a long way in a relatively short amount of time but he is still only twenty years old. He was never broken in the semi final win by Rafa Nadal with 6 - 2, 6 - 2, 6 - 2, so he is probably going to be bringing some serious confidence into this upcoming match as well as some much needed momentum. Despite this, if forced to pick:
Projected Winner: Roger Federer
Projected Defeat: Juan Martin Del Potro
We will have to see how things go. Both players have a lot at stake here and it will be really interesting to see how things play out between Roger Federer and Juan Martin Del Potro.
