Here are some more useful tennis tips for improving your serving game. If you want to make improvements in your ability to serve, these tips will prove useful.
Tip #1 - Vary your procedure when you are serving.
You are going to want to vary your procedure as well as your rhythm when you are serving in order to keep your opponent completely off balance. Do not allow your opponent to get comfortable with your rhythm, otherwise your tricks will no longer work on him.
You should be varying the number of times that you bounce the ball when you are standing in the serving position. Sometimes you should bounce it once and other times you should bounce it two or three or four times, and other times you should not bounce it at all. Each time that you serve, your opponent is going to begin to wonder how many times you will be bouncing the ball. His concentration on actually returning the ball is going to be affected to a degree and he is probably going to miss a much larger number of returns that if you were to follow the same serving routine with every serve that you make.
There is nothing against the rules about doing this - But rather this is a perfectly legitimate way for you to introduce subtle tactics to confuse and bewilder your opponent.
Tip #2 - Vary your tactics while you are serving.
When you are serving, there are several different choices that you have for placement that will be able to increase the overall effectiveness for your serve. For example, a wide sere toward the sideline may be able to focus your opponent out of his position which will give you an opening for your follow up shot. When you are serving wide to the forehand of your opponent in the right court, as an example, you are going to want to be opening up his backhand side for your follow up shot.
But your wide serve may also give your opponent a chance to move you away from your position as well, as he may return the ball wide on your forehand side, which would force you to go wide in turn, which would open up your backhand side for his follow up shot as well. At times, it may be best for you to serve right down the middle so that you can reduce his angles and make his returns much less effective as a result.
You should consider the advantages associated with each placement. It may actually be best for you to serve wide for one court and then down the middle in the other court. Serving in order to make him weak in his position by making him go wide may outweigh the disadvantages associated with serving to the stronger stroke side. Serving to his stronger stroke, similarly, may be more advantageous than if you were to serve wide to the weaker stroke by giving him good angles for his own returns.
